ABOUT ME

My name is Jizelle and I am a proud Canadian born & raised in the Philippines currently living in The Netherlands. This blog is the culmination of a life-long dream of seeing the world and traveling to places I could only fantasize about when I was but a little girl.  Growing up, I obsessed over Lilliput Lane catalogues, imagining how the real versions of the miniature cottages looked like in the English countryside.  I never missed an episode of Ian Wright’s Lonely Planet and would sit too close to the TV to be deemed healthy.  And I was convinced (convinced!) that one day, I will host my own travel show that will feature yours truly oohing and aahing over beautiful hotels, critiquing the architecture and the interior design, sampling the local fare and then oohing and aahing some more.

Well, I don’t exactly have a 13-episode TV show contract waiting for my signature right now.  But what I do have is this blog where I am hoping you can ooh and aah with me as I share stories from the travels I have done.

NOW WHAT’S THE PLAN?

I am a Producer/Project Manager by profession and I always need to have an answer to this question.  For close to 10 years now, I have been creating & executing plans in the crazy (crazy!) world of advertising.  With the insane pace and ever-changing nature of the industry, combined with demanding clients and ridiculous timelines, I’ve had pretty good practice in coming up with all sorts of plans.  I’ve planned through extreme pressure, unreasonable circumstances, palpitations, eye twitches and yes, post-puberty pimples.   But  believe it or not, when I get home, I plan even more.

Travel Spreadsheets

Dull spreadsheets transform into exciting, action-packed charts once you put a city’s name as the header

LIFE’S BEST PLANS

Outside work, my plans no longer involve ludicrous gross margins and ulcer-inducing deadlines.  Instead, they revolve around scenic drives in the Belgian countryside, beautiful castles in Copenhagen, cooking paella in Barcelona, hunting for that perfect Moroccan lamp, and other wonderful things. Suddenly, budgeting isn’t so bad especially if it’s for a Bohemian crystal chandelier calling your name out from a store in Prague’s Wenceslas Square.  Staying up for 20 hours is a piece of cake if you’re rewarded with seeing the aurora borealis above the Arctic Circle.  And mapping out Plans A, B and C becomes a thrill especially if a meal in the best restaurant in the world is the end product.

In this blog, you can expect to find travel stories that will hopefully inspire your next travel destination.  You will also find a map/a template/a chart/a matrix… or two, that will perhaps help you get started with your plan.

Happy planning & happy travels!

    • Thank you so much for the kind words! Of all the sections in my blog, writing about FOOD is the one that makes me most insecure. I just feel that food writers are very specialized and so skilled with words. I can only say ‘oh my, it’s delicious’ in so many ways, haha! I’ll be surely taking tips from you. 😉
